2005년부터 한국, 미국, 인도를 이동하여 살면서 형성된 인식들을 드로잉과 회화가 혼용된 방식으로 표현해오고 있다. 여기에는 다양하게 해석된 개인적 나레티브를 식생(Flora & Fauna)에 투영한 추상적 회화 방식이며, 따라서 자연과 사람, 동물이 개성적 색감으로 추상화 된다. 특히, ‘인도’라는 지역의 물리적 감성이 깨우쳐 주었던 중요한 지점이 개인적으로 잠재된 회화적 무의식을 기능하게 하였고, 이것이 곧 ‘한국’적 감성으로 해석되었다. 예를 들어, 바라보는 것과 그려지는 것들의 미묘한 지점을 착각하게 하여 인도의 산수를 한국적 느낌의 오색의 띠와 같은 형상들로 표현한 것이 그것이다. 마치 하늘 구름 같고 바람 같으며 비가 쏟아지는 듯한 햇살의 이미지를 통해 작가 개인의 서사는 지역이라는 한계를 넘어서 ‘아름다움’이라는 상징으로 관객들의 집단적 정서와 만나게 된다.
Since 2005, the artist has been expressing the perceptions formed while moving between Korea, the United States, and India in a mixed way of drawing and painting. This is an abstract painting method that projects variously interpreted personal narratives onto flora and fauna, and thus nature, people, and animals are abstracted with unique colors. In particular, the important points that the physical sensibility of the region called ‘India’ awakened personally functioned as a latent pictorial unconscious, and this was soon interpreted as a ‘Korean’ sensibility. For example, the subtle points of what is seen and what is drawn are mistaken, and the Indian landscape is expressed as shapes like a five-colored band with a Korean feel. Through images of sunlight that seem like clouds in the sky, wind, and pouring rain, the artist’s personal narrative transcends the limitations of the region and meets the collective emotions of the audience as a symbol of ‘beauty.’
